
Araneta Coliseum, Cubao - December 2, 2024 – The Philippine Wushu National Team delivered an astounding performance at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Centennial Celebration, held at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City. As part of the festivities marking the NCAA’s 100-year milestone, wushu was featured as a demonstration sport, highlighting its artistry, discipline, and athleticism to a captivated audience.
Beyond the performance, the event also served as an educational platform, with WFP providing a brief background on wushu’s history and its growing presence in the Philippines. This initiative is part of an ongoing effort to introduce the sport to NCAA member schools, with the hope of establishing it as a permanent fixture in collegiate athletics.
As WFP continues its advocacy for the sport’s development, the momentum gained from this event paves the way for more opportunities to integrate wushu into mainstream sports programs across the country.

San Juan City, September 24, 2024 – A groundbreaking meeting between the National Colleges Athletic Association (NCAA) and Wushu Federation Philippines (WFP) was held at the FilOil EcoOil Center, marking a significant milestone for the martial arts sport of wushu in the country. The meeting was made possible through the efforts of Mr. Pedro Cayco, Arellano University Representative and NCAA Management Committee member in coordination with WFP officers, President Godofredo Jalasco Jr. and Secretary General Julian Camacho.
In a historic move, wushu has been chosen to be included as a demonstration sport in the NCAA’s 100th-year celebration this December 2024. This recognition highlights the growing presence and popularity of wushu as a competitive sport in the country, aligning with the NCAA’s goal of introducing diverse athletic disciplines to its member colleges and universities.
As part of the discussions, WFP and NCAA agreed on launching a school tour leading up to the centennial event. The tour will introduce the art of wushu to various NCAA member institutions, with performances by Philippine team athletes and coaches. These demonstrations will not only showcase the elegance and discipline of wushu but will also provide a brief history and background of the sport to inspire more student-athletes to engage with this dynamic martial art.
The inclusion of wushu in such a prestigious sporting organization signifies wushu’s potential to become a mainstay in collegiate athletics and furthers the WFP’s mission to expand its reach across the country.
